About The Lhasa Apso
The Lhasa Apso origns from Tibet. A country surrounded by some of the worlds biggest mountains and situated 3000 metres above waterlevel. This rough environment has effected both humans and animals. All tibetan breeds are sturdy and covered by great coats.
For more than 2000 years the lhasa apso was only found in Tibet, where it was bred by munks and aristrocrats. It was used to guard the temples and was considered a bringer of fortune and a true lion dog. Due to Tibets remote location the first lhasas entered Europe and Northen America in the beginning af the twentieth century.
The lhasa apso is a dog of great pride and dignity who forms close bands to its humans. The Lhasa Apso is a calm, intelligent, alert, and independent dog. The Lhasa's suspicion of strangers is an attribute prized by the Tibetans. Although with his intimate friends he can be extremely sensitive, affectionate and playful, he never loses his air of self possession. He must not be surly, skulking or fearful. He is a naturally dignified and sensible companion, but he is not characteristically over-anxious for approval from his owners
It is easily recognized on its great coat, which take time and effort to keep.
